TCP


 

Transmission Control Protocol

Commonly used alongside the term IP so becoming TCP/IP.  TCP establishes a connection between two devices and guarantees delivery of data in the same order in which they were sent, the data it delivers is IP packets hence why the two terms are often used synonymously.
