ADSL

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line

ADSL is a broadband connection technology which utilises existing copper wired telephone networks. In the UK for example broadband internet comes in 2 flavours ADSL and Cable. Cable utilises recently laid fibre optic cables generally owned by NTL and Telewest whereas ADSL uses existing BT laid copper telephone wires. ADSL has the greater reach as a result.
